From 2006 to 2020, IFPRI facilitated the Regional Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support System (ReSAKSS) to support the implementation of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) by providing policy-relevant data, facilitating dialogue among stakeholders, monitoring progress in reviewing goals, and strengthening mutual accountability processes at continental, regional, and national level. Achievements include:
- Flagship annual trends and outlook report (ATOR) published annually since 2008
- Leading development of the CAADP M&E framework
- Online data portals for CAADP indicators, agricultural e-Atlas, and NAIP implementation
- Establishing or supporting implementation of country and regional SAKSS nodes
- Supporting joint sector review assessments
- Publication series (about 40 working papers, 30 policy and issue notes, etc.)
- Annual conference
In 2020, IFPRI transferred ReSAKSS to Akademiya2063, an African institution based in Kigali, Rwanda. Many IFPRI staff who worked on ReSAKSS also moved to Akademiya2063 to continue implementing the activities.
Since 2020, IFPRI plays an important role by contributing research and policy analysis in collaboration with Akademiya2063 and by supporting its institutional development and that of similar African organizations. The activities include:
- Providing institutional support
- Developing and managing high-quality knowledge products
- Assisting to deploy state of the art tools for review, benchmarking, and mutual learning
- Identifying nutrition smart trade and processing options
- Developing food system crisis observatory and response platform
