Boys, girls, men, and women have various roles in global socioeconomic development. However, the norms, behaviors and responsibilities associated with being a boy, girl, man, or woman, as well as their relationships with others, are often used in discriminatory ways that lead to gender gaps in economic opportunity, education, health, political participation, and other factors needed to realize their full potentials. This in turn stymies human capital development and hinders achievement of development objectives at all levels.
The objectives of the project are:
- To develop gender-sensitive agri-food systems diagnostic and analytical tools
- To strengthen national capacities for mainstreaming gender in agri-food systems policy planning and implementation.
- To identify policies, institutions, and technologies that improve the participation and livelihoods of the youth (especially young women) in agri-food systems
- To demonstrate exemplary integration of gender and equity in agri-food systems transformation plans.
