Integrated Urban-Rural Development and Common Prosperity

Co-organized by IFPRI and China Academy for Rural Development, Zhejiang University

September 23 to 24, 2021

  • 8:00 – 12:00 am (America/New_York)
  • 2:00 – 6:00 am (Europe/Amsterdam)
  • 5:30 – 9:30 am (Asia/Kolkata)

This workshop is jointly organized by IFPRI and China Academy for Rural Development and School of Public Affairs, Zhejiang University.

With its successful elimination of extreme poverty by the end of 2020, China aims to solve the problem of unbalanced development and narrow the gap between urban and rural areas in the new development era. An ultimate goal as outlined in the 14th five year plan (FYP) is to march towards common prosperity for all through rural vitalization and a new pattern of integrated urban and rural development. In June 2021, the Government of China issued the Opinions on Supporting Zhejiang’s High-quality Development and Construction of Common Prosperity Demonstration Zone. The province of Zhejiang takes on the important mission of exploring paths, accumulating experience and providing demonstration on common prosperity in the new development stage. This workshop aims to explore China’s and international experiences of integrated urban-rural development and to provide knowledge support for realizing common prosperity in China.
