Il Sole 24 published an article stating that technology, innovation, and education can defeat hunger. Several recent reports focus on agriculture and production and how to fight food insecurity. One study, Ceres2030 suggests that donors will have to spend an average of another US$14 billion a year by 2030, which equates to doubling current spending on food security and nutrition. Senior Research Fellow David Laborde said that in addition to the contribution of donor countries, even the poorest countries must increase spending by tapping into their budgets to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, to “double the income of 545 million smallholder farmers and limit agricultural emissions in accordance with the Paris climate agreements.”
