Kalyani Raghunathan

Kalyani Raghunathan is Research Fellow in the Poverty, Gender, and Inclusion Unit, based in New Delhi, India. Her research lies at the intersection of agriculture, gender, social protection, and public health and nutrition, with a specific focus on South Asia and Africa.

IFPRI Announces New Board Chair

May 7, 2020, Washington, D.C. – The Board of Trustees of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) announced today the appointment of Emorn Udomkesmalee as the next chair of the institute’s board. 

“Dr. Udomkesmalee has provided critical guidance and support as an IFPRI board member and we look forward to her leadership as our new chair,” said Jo Swinnen, director general of IFPRI. “We also thank Mari Pangestu for her strong leadership as our board chair over the past two years.” 

Udomkesmalee is a Senior Advisor to and a former Director of the Institute of Nutrition, Mahidol University, Thailand, and currently an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of International Health, Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University. She is a member of advisory groups and steering committees for numerous organizations working to improve nutrition internationally, including for the Global Nutrition Report, the World Health Organization, and the Micronutrient Forum. She has served as a member of the IFPRI Board of Trustees for more than 5 years and as incoming board chair succeeds the current chair, Mari Pangestu.
