The Micronutrient Forum and IFPRI Announce New Hosting Partnership

December 05, 2018

Washington D.C., December 3, 2018 – The Micronutrient Forum (the Forum) and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) are pleased to announce today that IFPRI has been selected to serve as the Forum Secretariat’s host for the next three years.

The Forum selected IFPRI after a public call for applicants and a rigorous review process. The hosting partnership will begin in 2019 as the Forum plans for its fifth Global Conference, to be held in Bangkok Thailand in March 2020. The partnership reflects the Micronutrient Forum and IFPRI’s shared commitment to tackling difficult challenges in the nutrition status of vulnerable populations.

“We look forward to partnering with IFPRI to grow our programs alongside their global reach and deep relationships across the global food system,” said Klaus Kraemer, Managing Director of Sight and Life and Chair of the Forum’s Selection Committee. “We were impressed by IFPRI’s outstanding administrative services and believe these will enable our staff to focus on tackling difficult challenges in the micronutrient field and planning for the next global conference.”

“The Micronutrient Forum serves a critical role in the nutrition and health communities by coordinating and sharing micronutrient expertise globally,” added Shenggen Fan, Director General of IFPRI. “The Forum’s track record of successful conferences and consultations, and its focused mission and collaborative process align with the programs and strategy at IFPRI, and we are delighted to deepen our partnership by hosting the Forum.”
