Liangzhi You

Liangzhi You is a Senior Research Fellow and theme leader in the Foresight and Policy Modeling Unit, based in Washington, DC. His research focuses on climate resilience, spatial data and analytics, agroecosystems, and agricultural science policy. Gridded crop production data of the world (SPAM) and the agricultural technology evaluation model (DREAM) are among his research contributions.

Shahidur Rashid appointed Director for South Asia

Washington, D.C.: International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) Director General Shenggen Fan announced the appointment of Shahidur Rashid of Bangladesh as Director for South Asia based in New Delhi. He succeeds Pramod Joshi of India who was appointed as Director of South Asia in February 2012.

“I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Shahidur Rashid as Director of South Asia. Shahidur has a strong research record, he has successfully managed large projects in Ethiopia and Bangladesh as well as several multi-country research projects, and he has a solid fund-raising record. His work has also influenced policymaking and investment priorities in Ethiopia and Bangladesh,” said Fan, welcoming Shahidur to the new position.

Currently Senior Research Fellow in IFPRI’s Development Strategy and Governance Division (since 2008) based in New Delhi (since 2016), Shahidur joined IFPRI in 1999 as Postdoctoral Fellow. Shahidur is trained as a development economist. He holds a Master of Social Science in Economics from the Chittagong University, Bangladesh (1987) and a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1999).

The Director General extends his appreciation to Pramod Joshi, Director for South Asia, who will continue to serve until Rashid assumes his position on April 16.
