Samuel Benin

Samuel Benin is the Acting Director for Africa in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit. He conducts research on national strategies and public investment for accelerating food systems transformation in Africa and provides analytical support to the African Union’s CAADP Biennial Review.

“I think ARENA shows that there are huge swaths of the world’s population that are not getting enough animal source foods, and animal source foods being one of the trigger points now in the global debate is really key. We know that rural places– the poor, the geographically isolated– really struggle to get an adequate diet particularly around animal sourced foods so I think there needs to be more nuance in the debate and I know IFPRI has been providing that nuance.”
