Iván Hurtado is a Research Associate in the HarvestPlus section of the Innovation Policy and Scaling Unit, and is based at the CIAT campus in Palmira, Colombia. Iván’s primary research focus is on developing and fostering the development of biofortified varieties of beans, rice, maize and cassava, and on statistical analysis. He has participated in release activities for new high-iron bean varieties in Colombia, and has worked in the field with farmers’ associations in different regions of Colombia. Iván holds a bachelor’s degree in agronomic engineering from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and is currently enrolled in a master’s program in agricultural sciences (plant breeding).
